Web Conferencing Can Start Your Week Off on the Right Foot

The Monday morning meeting is a business week staple. It’s a great opportunity to update teams on what happened during the previous week and set goals and expectations for the week to come. Web conferencing can add an extra element to these meetings by turning them into collaborative working sessions that really start the work week off on a positive note.

Adding web conferencing doesn't mean increasing the complexity or formality of the normally quick and casual Monday “touch base” conference call. A link to a web conference is as simple to incorporate as the dial-in numbers and passcodes for the audio conference. And you can even elect to use the same web conference link every week – a kind of standing meeting room for your weekly calls.

Here are a few ways that you can put web conferencing tools to work for your Monday meetings:

  • Instead of just talking about what happened the week before, show a visual representation. Take a web tour to highlight news stories or press releases online, share documents showing project plans and team members' daily logs, show a graph charting share prices for the prior week or anything else that can show the team what went on in the business.
  • Show a brief slide presentation outlining expectations and goals for the week to come. Make the presentation available to all participants so that they can refer back to it throughout the week and help keep themselves on course.
  • Use the polling feature to gauge the team’s interest in certain topics or get group buy-in for a course of action – “would you rather tackle this week’s challenge via method A or method B?”
  • Use a text slide to capture meeting notes which can be distributed post-conference for reference or for those who were unable to attend. These notes also come in handy for “next week’s” meeting so that you can make sure that all action items have received the needed attention.

Web conferencing provides the perfect platform for enhancing your Monday meetings. And don’t forget, it’s just as great a resource for meetings conducted during the rest of the work week!
